Why Travel With Us?

We are dedicated and committed to our clients, to the environment, and to our fellow compatriots

Our Porters “Blue Machine”

It is not possible to create the experience we provide without the unbelievably hard work of our team of porters. They are made up of men varying ages who are willing to leave their homes several hours away for days at a time. They typically are farmers.

We go out of our way to treat them with respect providing fair wages and proper equipment. We care for their health and the health of their families. In their communities we work on many social projects, especially in education and health, where we have small reinforcement schools with teachers in the subjects that the children of our porters require, we implement libraries, even school buildings.

Knowledgeable Tour Guides for Inca Trail

Peru Hike relies on an extensive network of highly trained guides and expert ambassadors as a premise to guarantee excellence in our services. We are fully conscious that an excellent guide is key to making your trip a memorable experience, which is why we are extremely demanding when recruiting and regularly
training our guides.

Our Chefs

In all of our trekking trips, the chef ensures high-quality meals on time, an adequate diet both in its quality and quantity. The secret lies in the careful selection of our team of chefs, whose top-quality restaurant background, creativity and passion for their jobs provide an unequalled touch to all of our meals. We do not have set menus since we wish to give our chefs the chance to create, innovate and surprise our clients through delicious dishes in every
trip.

The Best Trekking Food in Inca Trail

We do not have set menus since we wish to give our chefs the chance to create, innovate and surprise our clients
through delicious dishes in every trip. We provide general guidelines, guest information on dietary restrictions and preferences and, most especially, the
tools for a constant updating of our cooks’ knowledge in both Peruvian and International cuisine through
specialization courses and training.

The Best Camping Equipment for Inca Trail

Enjoy a good night’s sleep in our spacious Eureka tent. All our tents are built to be four man tents, but you will only have to share with one other trekker. This leaves a lot of room to spread out comfortably and store your duffels.

They are an A-frame design, with entrances on both sides of the tent. They also include a vestibule in front, giving you some extra outdoor space to leave your boots and walking sticks. We are proud to be the only company to use these
tents.

Inca Trail FAQs

See the top questions and answers about hiking the Inca Trail.

Yes, it is the ancient footpath of the Incas that goes from the Sacred Valley directly to Machu Picchu. It was created specifically for the Inca people to travel to Machu Picchu.

There are three ways to get above Machu Picchu for those amazing pictures you see in books: the Sun Gate, Huaynapicchu and Machu Picchu Mountain (montaña). The Sun Gate is free for everyone to visit and takes about an hour from the bottom of the ruins to the lookout point. This is also where all Inca Trail trekkers enter to see Machu Picchu for the first time. The views are lovely from the gate, but not as high and a bit further than the other two options.

Both Huaynapicchu and Machu Picchu Mountain are permit restricted hikes that must be done within a certain time. These permits/tickets will be secured by Alpaca Expeditions, but do need to be arranged a few months in advance of your trip. Both offer amazing views of Machu Picchu from viewpoints directly above. Machu Picchu takes about 3 hours to the top and is spectacular on a lovely day, but views are often restricted by clouds. Huaynapicchu takes 45 minutes to the top and is definitely the most popular of the three options. All views are amazing.

You can only book an Inca Trail Trek with a tour operator licensed to operate tours on the Inca Trail in Peru. The tour operator will reserve your trek dates and will secure the Inca Trail Permits necessary to hike on the Inca Trail. You first fill out a booking form that includes all details for you, and for any travelers going with you if you have a group. You will pay a $200 deposit per person. The deposits can be paid separately, as long as we have one booking form that we can use to track payments. Once we have all the deposits and details, we will then book your permits. When permits are in our hands, we will send you your invoice and confirmation that everything is 100% set. All start dates, once confirmed, are guaranteed.

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has a multitude of trekking paths. On the other hand, it takes 3 to 5 days to complete the Classic Inca Trail path and, on average, 4 days and 3 nights to go to Machu Picchu. There is a quicker way to get to Machu Picchu if you’re pressed for time. The trailhead for this walk is at Kilometer 104, and it only takes one day to hike to Machu Picchu.
