Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley full-day tour is a popular excursion in the Cusco region of Peru. The tour typically starts early in the morning and lasts for around 10 hours, including transportation to and from your hotel.

The Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, is a beautiful natural formation that features a striking combination of colors, including vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. The mountain is located in the Andes, at an altitude of over 5,000 meters above sea level. The trek to the top of Rainbow Mountain takes around 2-3 hours and can be challenging due to the altitude and steep terrain.

There are some tips for your rainbow mountain adventure:

  • Prepare for the altitude: Rainbow Mountain is located at an altitude of over 16,000 feet, so it’s important to be prepared for the effects of high altitude. Make sure to drink plenty of water, rest as needed, and consider taking altitude sickness medication if recommended by your doctor.
  • Dress in layers: The weather at Rainbow Mountain can be unpredictable, so it’s a good idea to dress in layers. Bring warm clothing, as temperatures can drop quickly at high altitudes, but also bring lighter clothing for when the sun is shining.
  • Wear sturdy shoes: The trail to Rainbow Mountain is rocky and uneven, so it’s important to wear sturdy shoes with good traction.
  • Bring sunscreen and sunglasses: The sun can be intense at high altitudes, so it’s important to bring sunscreen and sunglasses to protect yourself from UV rays.
  • Bring snacks and water: There are no food or drink vendors along the Rainbow Mountain trail, so be sure to bring snacks and plenty of water to stay hydrated and energized.
  • Hire a guide: Hiring a local guide can be helpful, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area or want to learn more about the history and culture of Rainbow Mountain.
  • Respect the environment: Rainbow Mountain is a beautiful natural wonder, so it’s important to respect the environment and leave no trace. Make sure to pack out any trash you bring in and stay on designated trails to protect the fragile ecosystem.

Best part of Peru! Go Treks Peru twas the highlight of my trip to Peru. The food and lodging was so incredible that I somehow gained 5 lbs while walking 50 miles. Our guide, Puma, managed to keep the positive energy up in our group with jokes and stories for 5 straight days. Our group was relatively young so we kept a pretty quick pace throughout the trek but Puma was very patient and hung out with whomever was the slowest that day while being supportive. The experience was life changing and I would recommend this to everyone

Humantay Lake and Salkantay Pass 2 days trek. One of the prettiest hikes I’ve ever done! I went alone, but ended up in a group of four along with our guide, Puma! He made the trek a once in a lifetime experience! He was very knowledgeable in history, flora, and fauna, and had a great sense of humor making learning about everything so much fun. I was only able to do one trek, but I’ll be back and booking with GoTreks Peru, again! Hopefully I get Puma again!!!!
