DAY 1: CUSCO- OLLANTAYTAMBO - KM 104 - CHACHABAMBA - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES

SHORT INCA TRAIL 2 DAYS ITINERARY

Ready for an exciting day in the valleys of Cusco? If so, day 1 begins at 4 am, which is the time at which we will pick you up at the hotel to take you to Ollantaytambo. From this point, we will take the train that passes through the Urubamba river and we will stay at km 104, which is a wooded and foggy place called Chachabamba.

Once there, we will enter the Chachabamba control point for which you must present your original passport and thus be able to begin the journey inside.

Chachabamba is an extremely beautiful archaeological site about which our guide will tell you about it and give you details of the Inca history and the place. After a while of exploring the site, we will advance to the first section of the old Inca trail. This section is inclined and the route lasts 3 hours to finally reach Wiñay Wayna.

Wiñay Wayna offers a wonderful view of the mountains, its surroundings, as well as the archaeological zone since it has a granite stone building and an altitude of 8694 feet. Once we reach this point we will take a break for lunch, enjoy some snacks and continue the walk towards Puerta del Sol.

From the Puerta del Sol, we will hike downhill for an hour, to show you the city of Machu Picchu more closely so that you can take photos.

Finally, on day 1, we will go to Aguas Calientes by bus to have dinner at a local restaurant and rest for the short Inca trail tour on day 2.

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES - OLLANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO

The next day we will wake up very early to have breakfast at the hotel and then head to the bus station to board the bus. The trip will be 30 minutes to the archaeological center of Machu Picchu, once there we will show the passport and the ticket at the control then we will enter and go to the viewpoint where you can fully appreciate this fascinating place and also have a chance to take some pictures.

Then we will have a 2 hours tour where you will visit the most important places such as houses, storehouses, fountains, stone quarries and much more, ending the tour we will board the bus back to Aguas Calientes where you will have your last lunch with the group (not included) and in the afternoon we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then by bus to Cusco.

You will be in Cusco at approximately 7 pm, depending on the availability of the train and we will drop you off at your hotel.

PACKING LIST TO INCA TRAIL 2 DAYS

A bag pack: Preferably a bag for the trips which is lightweight and big enough to carry all the essentials you need for the trip.

Light clothes; The clothes should be such that they can easily absorb moisture and help in the trekking. For the

Hat and sunglasses: As you will likely be in the sun a lot so you need to have a hat and sunglasses for the trip.

Umbrella: the likeliness of rain is really low but you should always have an umbrella as it can be used for multiple purposes.

Hiking shoes: The trek can be long and tiring for some so you need to be prepared to have good hiking shoes with a solid grip so that you do not get left behind.

Socks; The socks should be of good quality so that you do not get bugs or rocks in your shoes and protect your feet from all of the debris.

Eatables: You should have snacks and a water bottle always with you. These are the essentials of any trip, but for a trek these are mandatory.

Sunscreen; Some people have very sensitive skin so there should always be sunscreen to protect from the long exposure to the sun.

Warm clothes; at night there could be very cold to sleep, so you should have a pair of blankets or jacket to keep you warm at night.

The student price is available for all students around the world, provided that they meet the requirements set by the Peruvian government. This discount is applicable when purchasing Machu Picchu tickets from the Peruvian government.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE STUDENT PRICE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

Your student ID must be an original ID issued by your university, made of PVC material.

The student ID must have the following information printed on it.

University information.

Student name.

Student picture.

The student ID must have a valid expiration date printed on it, which is only valid for one year. For instance, if you visit Machu Picchu in 2023, the expiration date on your ID must be 2023 or 2024. If you visit Machu Picchu in 2023, the maximum expiration date allowed is 2024.

The student discount is available only for students who are not more than 25 years old.

The International Student Identification Card (ISIC) is Not valid for the discount, even if it meets the requirements mentioned above.

The only valid document for the student price is the original student ID that meets the requirements set by the Peruvian government. No other documents such as certifications or virtual cards are accepted as proof of student status.
